Michael Benedict steps out with his first solo effort, "Skin to Earth" on Sugarbone Records.
This fusion of Rock, Jazz and Old School Funk
is not for your easy listening collection. Turn this one up!
Play it loud!
From the opening cut, "Ow!", to the avant-garde excursion, "Skin to Earth", Benny delivers vintage soul saxophone with a 90's edge. Marvin Gaye's 60's hit, "Ain't That Peculiar" and Bill Withers' rhythm & blues classic "Use Me" are choice covers. The 'cool' "South Beach Strut" and the power of "The Pump" along with the New Orleans tinged "Easy Big" and the 'let it all hang out' jam of "Down at Mama Hattie's" are packed with energy and emotion.
